MEET DR. KAT BESAS
Achievement As An Armor

I was born and raised in Bohol, Philippines and I immigrated to the United States at the tender age of 13. Growing up between two cultures, I often felt like I did not belong in either one. So, I did what many children of immigrants do: I tried to earn my worth through achievement.Â

I thought success would finally make me feel whole.
Success That Feels Incomplete
Growing up in a Filipino household, a nursing degree is considered as the ultimate measure of success. Somewhere along the way, I realized that stability does not equal fulfillment. While I am grateful for the opportunities that my nursing profession has provided me, I have always felt a quiet restlessness, a soft voice nudging me that I am meant for more.

So, I am doing something different.
My Story
From Scrubs to Studio
Nursing will always be part of my story. As a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner, and Educator specializing in Sexual and Reproductive Health, I have dedicated my career empowering women to make informed decisions about their bodies, health, and overall well-being.

My transition into media and storytelling became a natural extension of that mission—a way to use my voice beyond the walls of healthcare and inspire women of color and first-generation professionals to build fulfilling, multidimensional lives beyond the badge. Today, I aim to bridge the gap between clinical excellence and creative-self expression.
Â
Nursing is my foundation, not my ceiling.
